Sr. Software Engineer, Content AI

About the role

You will serve as the technical lead for an agile team building scalable microservices that support core Peloton hardware and digital features. Your work focuses on training and hosting NLP and ASR models to improve search, voice, and captioning capabilities. You will collaborate with product, design, and QA departments to drive platform expansion and international growth.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Design and maintain high-availability, low-latency APIs and backend services.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and pair programming.
• Architect reusable libraries and shared components for use across the organization.
• Lead architecture meetings, design reviews, and technical task breakdowns.
• Use monitoring, profiling, and tracing tools to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Implement CI/CD, test automation, and feature toggles to ensure reliable releases.
• Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident response efforts for distributed systems.

Requirements

• MS or BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in backend cloud software development.
• Proficiency in Python, Kotlin, or similar programming languages.
• Experience with backend web frameworks like Spring Boot or Bottle/Gunicorn.
• Background in managing both relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, Mongo).
• Hands-on experience scaling and optimizing Elastic Search queries.
• Experience with caching systems such as Redis or Memcache.
• Familiarity with REST, gRPC, or GraphQL request processing.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS services (S3, ECR, IAM, Lambda, SQS).
• Proficiency with infrastructure and deployment tools including Terraform, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions.
• Experience using Datadog or similar APM tools for observability.

Nice to have

• Experience developing personal voice assistants or chatbots.
• Background in building personalized search and discovery platforms.
• Prior work with automatic speech recognition (ASR) technology.
