Staff Product Line Architect

About the role

This position serves as the primary technical lead for new hardware initiatives, guiding the development of products like the Peloton Bike, Tread, and Row. You will work within the Hardware Team to translate customer needs into technical specifications while overseeing the execution of designs alongside cross-functional partners.

What you'll do

• Define program direction for hardware initiatives in partnership with executive and product management teams.
• Lead technical teams and mediate conflicts to ensure project alignment.
• Implement Design for Manufacturing and Lean Engineering principles across all product phases.
• Author engineering requirement documentation and manage master test plans.
• Determine resource needs and staffing requirements for hardware programs.
• Oversee adherence to the Peloton Product Development Process and ensure accessibility standards are met.
• Travel internationally to coordinate with contract and joint development manufacturers.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in product development with a history of successful launches.
• 2+ years of experience leading or managing cross-functional teams.
• Expertise in design for manufacturability, assembly, and packaging.
• Technical background in electro-mechanical machinery, metal structures, plastic molding, surface finishes, and electronic components.
• Understanding of ODM, JDM, and CM partnership models.
• Ability to present and justify product strategies to internal and external stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience in the fitness industry or similar consumer hardware development.
