Staff Industrial Designer

About the role

Peloton is seeking an experienced Industrial Designer to lead the aesthetic and functional development of large-scale fitness hardware. You will manage the full design lifecycle, from initial research and concept exploration through to final production and launch.

What you'll do

• Design and develop fitness equipment and integrated subsystems.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineering, product management, software, and UX testing teams.
• Create and present design concepts using sketches, physical prototypes, 2D presentations, and CAD.
• Define and specify Color, Material, and Finish (CMF) for user-facing components.
• Troubleshoot technical issues with vendors and cross-functional partners to maintain design intent.
• Lead design brainstorms and mediate discussions between departments to drive project decisions.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects at various stages of development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design.
• 8+ years of relevant professional experience, ideally in automotive, aerospace, or large equipment sectors.
• Proven experience bringing both analog and digital products to market with strict ergonomic requirements.
• Expertise in mass production manufacturing methods including die casting, metal stamping, plastic injection molding, extrusions, welding, and soft goods.
• Ability to lead complex design assemblies with minimal oversight.
• Portfolio submission is required, preferably in PDF format, demonstrating process, problem-solving, and prototyping.
• No AI tools permitted during the application or interview process.

Nice to have

• Prior experience in the fitness industry.
• Advanced surfacing skills in Solidworks or other parametric modeling software.
• Personal interest in wellness and fitness.

Practical notes

• Base salary range: $215,050 to $264,150 USD.
• Compensation includes annual equity awards, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, and comprehensive benefits.
