About the role
Peloton is seeking a Data Engineering Manager to lead our DataOps function. You will oversee platform reliability and manage the delivery of data initiatives by coordinating internal and offshore engineering teams.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Direct the DataOps function to improve platform stability and operational processes.
- Supervise and mentor offshore engineering staff, providing feedback and technical oversight.
- Collaborate with business and analytics stakeholders to define requirements and manage project prioritization.
- Establish standards for ETL development, documentation, and operational procedures.
- Act as the primary owner for data platforms including Airflow, Airbyte, and Looker, managing governance and compliance.
- Coordinate incident response, monitoring, and root cause analysis efforts.
- Contribute to the long-term strategy for data and AI infrastructure.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software, data, or analytics engineering.
- 2+ years of experience in technical leadership or managing offshore/vendor resources.
- Proficiency in modern data architectures and ETL/ELT workflows.
- Hands-on experience with orchestration and integration tools like Airflow, Airbyte, or DBT.
- Strong SQL skills, specifically with BigQuery.
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
Nice to have
- Experience with compliance auditing for Looker or BigQuery.
- Background in building DataOps or platform operations functions.
- Experience supporting machine learning, AI, or self-service analytics initiatives.
- Familiarity with data quality, lineage, and observability solutions.
- Advanced degree.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
