Senior DevOps Engineer

About the role

Peak Performers is hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer to support a workers compensation insurance company based in Austin. You will guide enterprise strategy, automate deployment pipelines, and build an integrated development platform using emerging AI and machine learning tools.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Define and execute enterprise-wide DevOps and DevSecOps strategy.
• Build and manage CI/CD/CT pipelines using Azure DevOps or similar platforms.
• Architect infrastructure as code solutions using Terraform and Terraform Cloud.
• Lead transitions to AWS ECS with a focus on container orchestration and zero-downtime deployments.
• Automate security processes including SAST, DAST, SCA, and container scanning.
• Mentor junior staff and cross-functional teams on platform engineering and infrastructure best practices.
• Develop monitoring and observability solutions to improve application performance.
• Apply NIST and CIS security frameworks through policy as code.
• Collaborate with IT and security teams to integrate security into the full software lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in CS, IT, or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in DevOps and Cloud Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on AWS experience.
• Minimum 3 years of software development experience using modern languages and frameworks.
• Expert proficiency in Terraform and Terraform Cloud.
• Strong experience with Azure DevOps and Jenkins/Cloudbees CI.
• Experience with SonarQube for code quality analysis.
• Knowledge of observability tools such as Datadog, Dynatrace, Splunk, New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack.
• Proficiency in IAM, secrets management, and zero-trust security.
• Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
• No C2C arrangements.

Nice to have

• Master degree in CS, IT, or related engineering.
• AWS certifications (SAA, SysOps, SAPro, DevOps Pro) or security certifications (CISSP, CISM, CKS, OSCP).
• Experience with Java, Springboot, AngularJS, NodeJS, or ReactJS.
• Familiarity with Hashicorp Sentinel, Packer, and Terraform Associate certifications.
• Experience building an Integrated Development Platform (IDP).
• Knowledge of SRE concepts, blue/green deployments, and immutable infrastructure.
• Docker and Kubernetes certifications.
