About the role
In this position, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive solutions throughout all stages of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). You will provide guidance to management on project-related matters, mentor junior engineers, and operate with a significant degree of autonomy while applying your technical expertise.

- Participate in enhancing the scalability and reliability of Venmo's AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Define project designs, identify stakeholders, manage risks, coordinate team efforts, implement solutions, and ensure timely and quality project delivery.
- Troubleshoot incidents, determine root causes, document issues, and implement preventive strategies.
- Contribute to the improvement of engineering teams' operational effectiveness.
- Develop and refine tools and automation for managing infrastructure and application configurations as code.
- Focus on enhancing the quality, reliability, and stability of our systems and operations.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in software development or a similar field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience managing distributed applications in a 24/7 environment, as part of a Cloud Engineering, DevOps, or SRE team.
- Extensive practical experience in designing, implementing, and supporting infrastructure, preferably in AWS, for global-scale services.
- Strong hands-on experience with IaaS and PaaS solutions from AWS or similar cloud providers.
- Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Python, Java, Bash, or Go.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Nice to have
- Experience with CI/CD infrastructure and developing secure pipelines.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools like DataDog.

Practical notes
Visa sponsorship is not available for this position now or in the future. The base salary for this role will vary based on your location and relevant experience, with an expected range for Austin, TX between $130,500.00 and $193,600.00 annually. Additional compensation may include performance bonuses, equity, or other incentives as applicable.
