The Director of Data

Enterprise Marketplaces, India Site will own the data strategy and execution for one of Payoneer's most strategic domains, focusing on the company's largest global marketplace and platform customers. This role serves as the senior data leader for the India site, anchoring the Data & Analytics organization as the business expands its data capabilities locally. The position holder will translate ambiguous business questions into robust data structures, metrics, and guardrail indicators to guide decision-making. You will define and own the data roadmap for Enterprise Marketplaces in collaboration with product and finance stakeholders. A core part of the role involves designing experiments and instrumentation to test marketplace hypotheses and accelerate learning cycles. Building data products that align operations, finance, and compliance on shared definitions will be a central responsibility. The Director of Data will lead a multi-disciplinary data team, turning strategic objectives into trusted, high-value data solutions with deep execution ownership.

What you'll do

Set quarterly goals for Enterprise Marketplaces in collaboration with product and finance stakeholders to ensure alignment with site objectives. Translate ambiguous business questions into clear data structures, metrics, and guardrail indicators that inform strategic decisions. Design experiments and instrumentation to test marketplace hypotheses and accelerate learning cycles for product and growth initiatives. Build data products that align operations, finance, and compliance on shared definitions to reduce ambiguity and drive consistency. Partner with growth teams to improve conversion, retention, and risk management outcomes through data-led insights and experiments. Review dashboards and insights on a regular basis to surface anomalies, trends, and action recommendations for stakeholders. Ship analytics workflows designed to scale as marketplace volume and complexity increase without compromising performance or reliability. Guide analysts in code quality, documentation, and peer reviews to help raise the team's overall standards and consistency. Work closely with India-based and global stakeholders to align roadmap priorities and data roadmaps with business timelines. Champion data literacy so that non-technical teams can interpret results independently and reduce repetitive queries. Act as the primary representative of the Data & Analytics organization at the India site, especially when engaging with local and global leadership. Ensure that all data practices follow established policies and procedures while supporting the broader objectives of the Data & Analytics department.

Requirements

You must bring at least 3-5 years of experience managing data teams in a marketplace or platform environment to ensure relevant domain context. Strong mastery of SQL and data modeling for transactional systems is essential for building reliable and scalable analytics. You must communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to bridge gaps between data and business needs. A solid understanding of privacy and compliance considerations for cross-border data flows is required given the global nature of the business. You must have 3-5 years of hands-on experience with data visualization tools to create impactful and clear insights for stakeholders.

Nice to have

Prior experience in fintech or marketplace environments is preferred as it provides deeper context for domain-specific challenges. Familiarity with Python or basic data engineering concepts will be helpful for collaborating effectively with technical partners and understanding data workflows.
