About the role

Payjoy provides credit solutions to underserved populations in emerging markets through point-of-sale financing. You will build and support the technical infrastructure that has already served over 18 million customers.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Architect, build, and deploy high-performance applications using Django and Vue.js.
• Create and manage RESTful APIs and microservices that integrate with various internal and external systems.
• Optimize PostgreSQL database schemas and queries to ensure data integrity and system speed.
• Partner with product, design, and quality assurance teams to ship software solutions.
• Lead architecture planning, perform code reviews, and participate in Agile processes.
• Produce clean, documented code while mentoring junior team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Deep knowledge of Python and backend application development.
• Proven ability to design distributed systems and microservices architectures.
• Experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL, including performance tuning.
• Proficiency in frontend development using Vue.js and JavaScript.
• Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Git.
• Background in automated testing, Test-Driven Development, and peer code reviews.

Nice to have

• Prior work experience in FinTech, payments, or other high-volume transactional industries.
