Senior Software Engineer

About the role

PayJoy provides credit access to underserved populations in emerging markets through proprietary locking technology and financial services. We are looking for a senior engineer to build and maintain the systems that support our point-of-sale financing and card products. You will work across the full stack to deliver reliable software that helps our 18 million customers improve their financial stability.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Develop and maintain software using PHP, Javascript, Vue, AngularJS, HTML, and CSS.
• Manage relational SQL databases, including schema design and DML operations.
• Build and maintain partner-facing APIs to support real-time data exchange.
• Collaborate with product managers to translate business requirements into functional features.
• Handle sensitive customer data with strict security standards.
• Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and test-driven development within an Agile framework.
• Mentor junior team members, document internal processes, and assist with technical interviews.
• Coordinate with global engineering teams to deploy products in international markets.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in financial technology services.
• Proficiency in PHP, Java, Javascript, Vue, AngularJS, HTML, CSS, and SQL.
• Ability to own feature development from initial requirements through to deployment and bug fixes.
• Strong analytical and communication skills for working in a collaborative team environment.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Adobe Experience Platform.
• Experience with omnichannel activation strategies including email, push, SMS, and in-product messaging.
• Interest in transitioning into Staff or architecture-level roles.
• Background in growth-driven or product-led organizations.
