Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

Paragon Cyber Solutions is looking for a Cyber Security Engineer II to join our defense-focused team. You will handle the day-to-day management of security controls, threat detection, and compliance tasks while working with our senior engineering staff.

What you'll do

• Deploy and manage security controls within enterprise environments.
• Manage SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, and firewall systems.
• Execute vulnerability management and remediation tasks.
• Perform security monitoring, analysis, and incident response.
• Assist with risk assessments and threat modeling.
• Enforce security baselines and system configurations.
• Support compliance efforts regarding NIST and CIS standards.
• Analyze security alerts and conduct threat hunting.
• Help deploy and tune security tools.
• Write technical documentation and operational procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
• 2 to 4 years of professional experience in cybersecurity engineering.
• Background in security operations and the implementation of security controls.
• Knowledge of NIST Cybersecurity Framework, CIS Controls, and compliance frameworks.
• Understanding of threat modeling, vulnerability management, and secure configuration.
• Familiarity with SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, and firewall platforms.

Nice to have

• Certifications such as Security+, CISSP, or other industry-recognized credentials.
• Experience with CrowdStrike Falcon, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, or Splunk Enterprise Security.
