Sr. IT Asset Data Engineer

About the role

This position focuses on building and refining the systems that manage Oportun's IT assets and configurations. You will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our asset data, directly contributing to the company's operational integrity and its mission to serve members.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Oversee the data integrity for IT Asset Management, Software Asset Management, and Configuration Management Database (CMDB) within ServiceNow.
• Collaborate to create sustainable solutions that enhance asset data quality, governance, and operational effectiveness.
• Provide essential asset inventory data for internal and external audits, ensuring completeness and traceability.
• Work with various departments including Procurement, Infrastructure, Security, and IT Operations to improve asset data accuracy.
• Develop and maintain reports and dashboards to support compliance, operational metrics, and executive reporting needs.
• Partner with ServiceNow developers to improve asset-related integrations, such as product models and entitlements.
• Evaluate new ServiceNow Asset Management features and propose improvements for automation and data reliability.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• A minimum of 5 years in technology, with a concentration in IT Asset Management, Configuration Management, or similar ITAM tools.
• At least 3 years of experience developing and supporting solutions within ServiceNow for Asset Management, Software Asset Management, CMDB, or IT Operations Management.
• A solid understanding of IT Asset Management, Software Asset Management, Configuration Management, and CMDB best practices.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration across business and technology teams.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with ITIL/ITSM processes and integrating asset data in ServiceNow.
• Experience leading or coordinating enhancements for Asset Management processes or tools.
• Knowledge of procurement and licensing tools, such as Softchoice or Adobe.
• Experience with IT Operations Management (ITOM) products, particularly within ServiceNow.
• Experience managing cloud assets in platforms like AWS or Azure.
• Experience supporting software licensing, compliance, and audit activities.
• Experience creating executive dashboards and reporting solutions in ServiceNow.
