About the role

Oportun is seeking individuals with backgrounds in hospitality, sales, cashiering, or customer service to join our team. You will serve as a primary contact for our members, focusing on building relationships and educating the community about our financial services.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Provide welcoming service to all members who visit our locations.
• Execute transactions while maintaining security protocols and protecting member data.
• Meet or exceed daily targets for lending and servicing, whether working solo or with a team.
• Spend over 50% of your time on outreach efforts, including engaging with local businesses, attending community events, and visiting Lending As A Service partner sites.
• Assist potential members with application processes using iPads and QR codes.
• Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the store, including tasks like sweeping, mopping, and trash removal.
• Perform administrative duties on a computer for 3 to 6 hours daily.
• Travel between local work sites and outreach locations within a standard commuting distance.
• Stand while assisting members and occasionally lift or move items up to 25 pounds.

Requirements

• Proficiency in both English and Spanish.
• Previous experience in sales, customer service, hospitality, or cashier roles.
• Availability to work a rotating schedule that includes weekends, with shifts updated every two weeks.
• Ability to work outdoors throughout the year for promotional and outreach activities.
• Reliable and predictable attendance.
• Basic computer proficiency and experience using office equipment like scanners and phones.
• Ability to organize and maintain paper files.
