About the role

Oportun is looking for individuals with backgrounds in hospitality, sales, cashiering, or customer service to join our team. You will serve as the face of our mission, helping community members access affordable financial services while building relationships through local outreach.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Provide high-quality service and a welcoming environment for all members.
• Manage financial transactions accurately while adhering to security protocols and privacy policies.
• Meet or exceed performance goals for lending and service activities, working both independently and as part of a team.
• Spend over 50% of your time conducting community outreach, including visiting local businesses, attending events, and engaging with potential members at partner locations.
• Use mobile tools like iPads and QR codes to assist with application starts and lead generation.
• Perform light maintenance tasks to keep the store clean and professional.
• Use computers for administrative duties and member support for 3 to 6 hours daily.
• Travel between local sites and outreach locations within a standard commuting distance.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in both English and Spanish.
• Ability to work a rotating schedule that includes weekends, with hours updated every two weeks.
• Willingness to work outdoors in various conditions to promote services and identify new opportunities.
• Must be able to stand for member-facing tasks and lift or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Reliable and consistent attendance.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on sales and community engagement.

Skills & tools

• Basic computer proficiency.
• Experience with office equipment including phones, scanners, and iPads.
• Ability to organize and maintain physical filing systems.
