About the role
Oportun is hiring a full-time representative to deliver quality service to members while spending more than half of working hours on community outreach. You will educate individuals about affordable financial products in store locations and throughout the surrounding area. The company has provided over $21.3 billion in credit and helped members save more than $2.5 billion in interest and fees since its founding.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Greet members and deliver attentive service while handling transactions according to company guidelines and protecting member data
- Work independently or alongside colleagues, including periods alone in the store, while meeting daily lending and servicing targets
- Spend more than 50 percent of your time on outreach at Oportun stores, Lending As A Service (LAAS) partner sites, flea markets, and community events
- Build connections with local businesses such as mechanic shops, dental offices, and furniture stores to explain how Oportun can help their customers
- Distribute flyers, capture leads, help people start applications, and use iPads or QR codes during outreach
- Maintain a clean and welcoming store environment through daily tasks like trash removal, sweeping, mopping, and window cleaning
- Use a computer for administrative duties and member service approximately 3 to 6 hours per day
- Stand while assisting members; sitting is permitted during non-member-facing work
- Unpack and store office or cleaning supplies as needed
- Travel between assigned work sites within a normal commuting distance as part of regular duties
Requirements
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish
- Outgoing personality with a sales orientation and comfort speaking with people
- Willingness to assist current and prospective members through outreach and education
- Availability to work weekends and adapt to a rotating schedule set every two weeks
- Consistent, reliable attendance to support store operations
- Willingness and ability to work outdoors year-round for outreach activities
- Ability to lift or move items up to 25 pounds
Skills & tools
- Basic computer proficiency
- Ability to operate phones, scanners, and iPads
- Skill in organizing and filing paper documents
