About the role

Oportun is seeking individuals with backgrounds in hospitality, sales, cashiering, or customer service to join our team in a full-time capacity. You will act as the face of our mission, providing financial guidance to members and conducting community outreach to promote our accessible credit services.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Provide friendly service and process transactions while maintaining member data security.
• Manage store operations independently or as part of a team to meet lending and service targets.
• Spend over 50 percent of your time on outreach, including visiting local businesses, attending community events, and engaging with potential members at Lending As A Service partner locations.
• Use mobile devices and QR codes to assist with new applications during field activities.
• Educate the community on Oportun products through flyers and direct engagement.
• Perform light facility maintenance, including cleaning and organizing the workspace.
• Travel between local work sites and outreach locations within a standard commuting distance.
• Use computer systems for administrative tasks for 3 to 6 hours daily.

Requirements

• Fluency in both English and Spanish.
• Availability to work a flexible, rotating schedule that includes weekends, with shifts set every two weeks.
• Ability to work outdoors year-round for promotional and outreach efforts.
• Capacity to lift or move up to 25 pounds.
• Dependable and consistent attendance.
• Outgoing personality with a focus on sales and community engagement.

Skills & tools

• Basic computer proficiency.
• Experience with office equipment such as scanners, phones, and iPads.
• Ability to organize and maintain paper files.
