About the role

Oportun provides financial services to help members reach their goals through borrowing, savings, and budgeting tools. You will serve as a primary contact for our members, focusing on delivering high-quality service and community engagement. This position requires active outreach to educate the public on our affordable credit options.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Greet members and provide support while maintaining security protocols for personal information.
• Manage financial transactions and administrative tasks while meeting lending and service targets.
• Spend over 50% of your time conducting outreach at community events, flea markets, and partner locations to generate leads.
• Build relationships with local business owners to promote our services.
• Assist potential members with application processes using iPads and QR codes.
• Maintain the cleanliness and visual appeal of the retail store.
• Travel between local work sites and outreach locations as needed.
• Use computers for 3 to 6 hours daily for member servicing and administrative duties.

Requirements

• Fluency in both English and Spanish.
• Previous experience in hospitality, sales, cashiering, or customer service.
• Availability to work a rotating schedule that includes weekends, with shifts updated every two weeks.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions for outreach activities.
• Capacity to stand for extended periods while assisting members and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Reliable attendance and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Skills & tools

• Basic computer proficiency.
• Experience with office equipment including scanners, phones, and iPads.
• Ability to organize and file physical documentation.
