What you'll do

• Design and develop custom applications on the ServiceNow platform to meet specific business requirements and enhance operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, translating them into technical specifications and functional designs.
• Implement best practices for ServiceNow development, ensuring high-quality code and adherence to industry standards.
• Conduct thorough testing of applications, including unit testing and user acceptance testing, to ensure reliability and performance.
• Provide ongoing support and maintenance for existing ServiceNow applications, troubleshooting issues and implementing enhancements as needed.
• Work closely with IT service management teams to integrate ServiceNow solutions with other enterprise systems and tools.
• Mentor and guide junior developers, sharing knowledge and fostering a culture of continuous learning within the team.
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers and ensuring code quality across the development team.
• Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in ServiceNow and application development, applying new techniques to improve existing processes.
• Document development processes, application configurations, and technical specifications to ensure clarity and facilitate knowledge transfer.
• Collaborate with project managers to ensure timely delivery of projects, managing priorities and expectations effectively.
• Engage in Agile development practices, participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to drive project success.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in application development, with at least 3 years specifically focused on the ServiceNow platform.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and other web technologies relevant to ServiceNow development.
• Experience with ServiceNow modules such as Incident Management, Change Management, and Problem Management.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow scripting, including Business Rules, Client Scripts, and Script Includes.
• Knowledge of ITIL best practices and frameworks, particularly in relation to service management processes.
• Proven track record of delivering high-quality applications on time and within budget, demonstrating strong project management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to delivering exceptional results.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• ServiceNow Certified Application Developer certification or similar credentials.
• Experience with integration tools and APIs, particularly in connecting ServiceNow with third-party applications.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile development teams.
• Knowledge of additional programming languages or frameworks that complement ServiceNow development.
• Experience in a leadership or mentoring role, guiding junior developers in best practices and technical skills.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in ServiceNow development tools and environments, including Studio and Application Repository.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git for managing code changes and collaboration.
• Understanding of database concepts and experience with SQL for data manipulation and reporting.
• Knowledge of cloud computing principles and experience with cloud-based application deployment.
• Competence in using project management tools to track progress and manage tasks effectively.
