About the role
This role focuses on building the core infrastructure that allows teams to create and manage AI agents securely. You will develop the foundational systems that enable agents to access necessary information and tools. Your work will primarily involve Slack, establishing its architecture and integrations, with patterns extending to other internal and enterprise applications.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Define the technical approach and architecture for teams to securely build, connect, and deploy agents, with a focus on Slack.
- Create secure, dependable services that grant agents authorized access to context, tools, and actions across various platforms.
- Develop scalable methods for connectivity, data retrieval, authorization, and action execution across diverse systems.
- Build reusable SDKs, connectors, templates, testing tools, and deployment strategies to enhance developer efficiency.
- Implement automated policy enforcement and lifecycle management for agents, applications, and integrations, including ownership, permissions, and credential handling.
- Establish governance and observability features to ensure least privilege, protect user data, and monitor agent behavior.
- Set operational standards for system reliability, auditability, testing, incident response, and secure self-service.
- Collaborate with IT, Security, Privacy, Legal, product teams, and platform providers to influence technical direction and translate agent use cases into scalable systems.
Requirements
- Extensive hands-on software engineering experience and a history of building and maintaining production systems at scale.
- Strong understanding of backend and distributed systems, including API design, integrations, and production stability.
- Experience developing developer platforms, reusable tools, or shared services that streamline application and agent development.
- Experience integrating enterprise platforms like Slack and navigating real-world API, identity, and operational limitations.
- Experience designing secure, permission-aware systems that handle sensitive data or perform actions on behalf of users.
- Ability to lead complex technical initiatives across teams, balancing developer experience, security, and long-term architectural goals.
Nice to have
- Deep familiarity with Slack Enterprise Grid and its various APIs (application, admin, audit, discovery).
- Experience building agent platforms or AI-assisted workflows that maintain user identity, permissions, and data boundaries.
- Experience building integrations or governance systems for platforms such as Slack, Google Workspace, GitHub, Microsoft 365, or Salesforce.
- Knowledge of agent interoperability protocols like MCP, or data classification, DLP, retention, and compliance systems.
