We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to contribute to the development of OpenAI's core monetization and advertising systems. This position is crucial for creating the infrastructure and user experiences that will drive our innovative monetization products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that these systems are safe, scalable, and aligned with user needs.

What you'll do

• Design and implement the foundational infrastructure for OpenAI's monetization and advertising products.
• Create APIs and tools for advertisers that facilitate ad creation, management, and performance tracking.
• Develop integrations with external partners to enhance our monetization offerings.
• Architect distributed systems that ensure high reliability and performance at scale.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Research teams to translate requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Lead product development from concept to deployment through rapid prototyping and iterative processes.
• Contribute to the technical strategy and help define the roadmap for monetization and advertising platforms.
• Maintain rigorous engineering standards through thorough testing, documentation, and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with safety, privacy, and policy standards across all monetization systems.
• Continuously improve engineering processes and foster a collaborative team culture.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in building high-scale consumer, enterprise, or advertising systems.
• Proven experience in architecting and delivering complex distributed systems with a focus on reliability and performance.
• Ability to navigate ambiguous product environments and contribute to long-term technical direction.
• Strong product intuition with a collaborative mindset for working with Product, Design, and Research teams.
• Experience in environments that require defining systems and user experiences from the ground up.
• Excellent communication skills with a holistic approach to decision-making based on user needs and sustainability.
• Motivation to create privacy-focused and user-centric monetization systems.
• Bonus: Experience in advertising systems, marketplaces, or monetization-heavy sectors.

Skills & tools

• Proficiency in programming languages and frameworks relevant to high-scale system development.
• Familiarity with distributed systems architecture and cloud services.
• Experience with API development and integration.

Compensation Range: $230K - $385K
