About the role
OpenAI is seeking an experienced legal counsel to join its Litigation and Regulatory team. This role involves managing global intellectual property disputes and certain regulatory matters. The position requires close collaboration with various internal teams, including Legal, Communications, Global Affairs, and Executive teams.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Advise on a broad spectrum of global litigation and regulatory issues, including commercial disputes, intellectual property (copyright and trademark), and regulatory investigations.
- Oversee external counsel for all aspects of litigation and regulatory cases, from discovery and motion practice to trial preparation and settlement.
- Keep up-to-date on legal and industry developments, providing updates and guidance to company leadership.
- Work with different internal teams to gather information, evaluate risks, and develop legal strategies for dispute resolution.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of combined experience in litigation or regulatory roles within technology companies and law firms.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
- Active license to practice law in California or another U.S. state.
- Experience managing complex global intellectual property litigation, specifically copyright and trademark disputes across multiple countries.
