About the role
This role involves building and maintaining the core analytics infrastructure for oneapp. You will be responsible for ensuring the business has access to reliable data for quick decision-making. This is a senior individual contributor position focused on technical leadership and high-impact data solutions.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Design and construct production-ready dbt models on Databricks to serve as the definitive data source for business operations.
- Provide accurate and governed data for external reporting to stakeholders and partners.
- Oversee data quality through testing, CI/CD practices, documentation, and team standards.
- Develop and enhance Databricks dashboards and semantic metrics for broad self-service use.
- Offer technical guidance through code reviews, architectural input, and mentorship for junior analytics engineers.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, and other analytics teams to transform complex business challenges into sustainable data products.
- Implement AI-driven development workflows, including daily use of AI coding tools like Cursor/Claude, and design models and documentation suitable for large language model consumers.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in analytics engineering or a similar role, with a track record of owning production models from start to finish.
- Expert proficiency in SQL and extensive experience with dbt, including architecture, incremental models, tests, macros, and CI/CD.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver solutions using Databricks BI or a comparable semantic layer.
- Practical experience with AI tools for coding, including daily use, rigorous output validation, and designing data for both human and AI consumption.
- Proven capability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced environments with incomplete specifications, prioritizing delivery.
- Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues, consistently raising the bar for quality.
Nice to have
- Experience with fintech or regulated data environments.
- Proficiency in Python for automation.
- Prior experience with Databricks.
- Familiarity with GitLab or similar merge request workflows.
- Previous experience as a tech lead, lead, or senior individual contributor on a small data team.
