About the role
Odys Aviation presents an internship centered on the operational planning and execution of unmanned aircraft systems within the European context. The intern will take ownership of defining and planning all mission operational requirements, ensuring the safe conduct of flights using the Class-3 unmanned dual-use aircraft Laila. This role involves securing essential aircraft-specific operational approvals while managing numerous interdependent planning aspects. You will capture and report all approval requirements to enable Odys to conduct intended flight missions at European target locations. The position demands strong problem-solving and communication skills in English, paired with sound aviation operations fundamentals. Outstanding candidates will demonstrate excellent organization and the ability to structure complex interdependencies into clear, actionable workstreams. This internship is essential to the success of Operational Launch Programs where Odys aircraft demonstrate real customer missions.

What you'll do
- Capture and record all planning requirements essential to secure the safe conduct of the mission.
- Capture and report all approval requirements to allow Odys to conduct the intended flight missions at the European target location.
- Identify customer stakeholders and develop communication streams, format, and logic to be maintained throughout planning and execution.
- Define logistic requirements, including transport of aircraft and equipment, sheltering of aircraft at the operating site, clearances for transport, and lodging possibilities for crew.
- Develop a mission planning budget framework and obtain required information from all affected stakeholders, both within and outside the company.
- Manage the mission preparation and execution schedule.
- Establish progress reporting dashboards and provide regular status updates to management.
- Secure availability of all required prerequisites on site prior to the arrival of the operations crew when timing allows for participation during mission conduct.
- Provide direct support to the operations crew in resolving issues that inevitably arise during execution.
- Support on-site coordination and communication with customers regarding the demonstration of their mission conduct.
- Secure documentation of program expenses against the established budget.
Requirements
- Be enrolled in or recently completed a Bachelor's or advanced degree program in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
- Possess a good understanding of the EASA regulatory framework with respect to the operation of unmanned aircraft.
- Demonstrate a strong interest in aircraft operations.
- Exhibit excellent coordination and organization skills.
- Show strong attention to detail and the ability to structure complex interdependencies into clear workstreams.
- Hold eligibility to work in Germany without requiring a visa or possess a valid visa that permits the internship duration.
- Be physically capable of traveling to the mission location within Europe when required for participation in operational launches.
- Comply with all security and confidentiality requirements associated with access to operational and customer information.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with JARUS SORA 2.5 and its implementation by EASA.
- Prior experience in mission planning for unmanned aircraft systems.
- Knowledge of logistics planning for aviation operations, including aircraft transport and crew accommodation.
- Experience with progress reporting and dashboard creation for operational programs.
- Understanding of the roles of launch partners such as Fiji Airways, Honeywell, Aramex, and the US Navy in operational deployments.
Practical notes
The internship is based in Munich, Germany, and is offered as a full-time engagement. Travel within Europe may be required for participation in operational launches. The intern must hold a valid visa or work eligibility to work in Germany for the duration of the internship.
