About the role
NVIDIA is hiring a Senior Machine Learning and Simulation Engineer to join the Autonomous Vehicles Simulation team. You will build and refine closed-loop simulation frameworks to train end-to-end driving models like Alpamayo R1.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Architect and manage large-scale reinforcement learning training frameworks for multi-modal AV foundation models.
- Create and refine data processing and simulation pipelines to support scalable driving policy training.
- Improve simulation fidelity and define reward functions for reinforcement learning.
- Develop monitoring and debugging tools to maintain performance on large GPU clusters.
- Work with research, AV Product, and AV Platform teams to integrate new model architectures into training workflows.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 12+ years of professional experience in AI infrastructure, simulation, AV systems, and large-scale machine learning training.
- Proficiency in reinforcement learning algorithms including PPO and GRPO, with experience in reward design and hyperparameter tuning.
- Advanced programming skills in Python and C++.
- Experience working with High-Performance Computing environments, large-scale GPU clusters, and orchestration tools like Kubernetes or SLURM.
Nice to have
- Background in general LLM fine-tuning or training infrastructure.
- Experience with closed-loop evaluation and simulation of end-to-end autonomous driving models.
- History of optimizing algorithms and developing large-scale data pipelines.

- Base salary range for Level 5 is 224,000 USD to 356,500 USD.
- Base salary range for Level 6 is 272,000 USD to 431,250 USD.
