Senior Software Engineer, AI Performance Analysis

About the role

Join the GPU Architecture Group to modernize how we measure and improve AI training and inference performance. You will create the infrastructure and automated workflows that allow our engineering teams to identify bottlenecks and optimize large-scale AI systems.

What you'll do

• Create and maintain specialized tools and automated pipelines for analyzing AI performance.
• Partner with hardware architects and software engineers to ensure profiling tools meet real-world production needs.
• Connect profiling infrastructure directly to AI frameworks to streamline data collection.
• Build scalable software solutions that translate complex performance data into actionable insights for the team.
• Design automated methods to detect and diagnose performance issues within AI workloads.

Requirements

• M.S. or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 6 years of professional experience in software engineering.
• Proficiency in Python and C++.
• Expertise in AI frameworks and the performance characteristics of AI workloads.
• Proven ability to build developer-facing tools, infrastructure, or workflows.
• Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and gathering technical requirements.
• Familiarity with modern AI-assisted development and performance analysis tools.

Nice to have

• Experience optimizing or profiling AI inference and training pipelines at scale.
• History of building platforms or tools specifically for machine learning engineers.
• Track record of contributing to open-source AI frameworks or tooling.

Practical notes

• Base salary range for Level 4 is 184,000 USD to 287,500 USD.
• Base salary range for Level 5 is 224,000 USD to 356,500 USD.
• Compensation package includes equity and benefits.
