Director of Engineering, Eval Platform

About the role

Nuro is seeking a technical leader to oversee the development of our evaluation infrastructure as we transition toward licensing autonomous driving software. You will manage the systems that validate our self-driving technology for robotaxis and consumer vehicles. This position centers on building the frameworks necessary to ensure safety and performance across our expanding product suite.

What you'll do

• Lead the engineering organization responsible for the evaluation and validation of autonomous driving software.
• Architect and scale the testing infrastructure that supports Nuro Driver and the Nuro Toolkit.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine performance metrics for robotaxi and personal vehicle applications.
• Manage the roadmap for simulation and real-world data processing pipelines.
• Mentor engineering managers and individual contributors to foster high-performance technical output.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in software engineering leadership within the autonomous vehicle or robotics industry.
• Proven track record of building and maintaining large-scale evaluation or simulation platforms.
• Deep understanding of autonomous driving software stacks and validation methodologies.
• Ability to manage complex technical projects and align them with company-wide strategic shifts.

• Experience with licensing software to third-party automotive partners.
• Background in safety-critical systems development.
