About the role
You will identify, monitor, evaluate and address customer account actions to mitigate potential risk, fraud or suspicious activity across the platform. You own the understanding and management of KYC and AML processes end to end, ensuring controls align with regulatory expectations. You will support the origination and in-life management of deposits by handling Customer and Enhanced Due Diligence during onboarding and through periodic reviews. You will process all applications through a workflow system effectively, within agreed SLAs and goals, and in strict compliance with company policies and procedures. You will perform due diligence checks on prospective and existing customers, requesting KYC information and documentation as needed. You will conduct enhanced due diligence on high risk customers, including evaluation of client responses related to sources of wealth and intended use of account. You will investigate suspicious clients generated by screening systems such as WorldCheck and OFAC lists. You will analyze the AML/CFT risk of Politically Exposed Persons, adverse information, business exposure in high risk and sanctioned countries, and escalate issues to the Legal Team for approval. You will follow internal policy and procedures when dealing with account related suspicious activity and cross reference multiple databases for potential undesirable client matches.

What you'll do
- Drive the identification and assessment of customer risk through detailed transaction and activity reviews.
- Own the execution of KYC and AML procedures to ensure accurate and consistent application of policies.
- Manage the deposit origination lifecycle by performing thorough Customer Due Diligence and ongoing reviews.
- Process onboarding requests through established workflow systems while adhering to SLAs and regulatory standards.
- Conduct comprehensive due diligence on current and potential customers by gathering and validating KYC documentation.
- Execute enhanced due diligence investigations for high risk individuals, analyzing sources of wealth and intended account usage.
- Research and investigate alerts triggered by screening platforms including WorldCheck and OFAC watchlists.
- Assess AML and CFT risk dimensions for Politically Exposed Persons, negative media, and operations in sanctioned jurisdictions.
- Escalate complex risk findings to the Legal Team for formal review and approval when required.
- Apply strict adherence to internal policies when responding to suspicious account behavior or anomalies.
- Cross validate data across disparate databases to detect and resolve potential client match issues.
- Champion process improvements by identifying inefficiencies and proposing standardized enhancements to workflows.
- Develop and deliver training materials to strengthen team knowledge on KYC and AML best practices.
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures that support scalable and compliant operations.
- Utilize analytical skills to operate independently on critical analytics projects from initiation to completion.
- Navigate ambiguous situations by leveraging structured problem solving and a bias toward action.
Requirements
- Hold a minimum bachelor's degree, preferably in business, economics, finance, or other technical disciplines.
- Bring 1-3 years of experience working in KYC or compliance related roles within financial services or banking.
- Demonstrate background working in U.S. markets, in a fintech environment, or within banking sectors.
- Show strong understanding of AML compliance frameworks and KYC due diligence methodologies.
- Have hands on experience with screening tools and data mining techniques using various search engines.
- Exhibit a genuine interest in financial crime and the investigative process of studying customer behaviors.
- Display ability to oversee critical analytics projects from conception to delivery independently.
- Approach problem solving with creativity, especially when data is limited, to find solutions for unorthodox challenges.
- Communicate effectively in written and verbal formats with clarity and precision.
- Thrive in fast paced environments where priorities shift rapidly and pace is high.
- Adapt quickly to changing requirements while maintaining a high level of organization and execution.

- This role is based in Bangalore and requires full time onsite availability.
