As a , you will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations related to stormwater management. Your expertise will contribute to the development and implementation of Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) for various projects. What you'll do
- Develop comprehensive Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) tailored to specific project requirements and regulatory standards.
- Conduct site assessments to identify potential sources of stormwater pollution and recommend effective mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and environmental specialists to integrate SWPPP requirements into project designs and plans.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented SWPPPs, making adjustments as necessary to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
- Prepare and submit necessary documentation and reports to local, state, and federal agencies as required by law.
- Provide training and guidance to field personnel on best management practices (BMPs) for stormwater management.
- Stay updated on changes in environmental regulations and industry standards to ensure all SWPPPs are compliant and up-to-date.
- Assist in the development of environmental impact assessments and other related documentation for various projects.
- Engage with stakeholders, including clients, regulatory agencies, and community members, to communicate stormwater management strategies and address concerns.
- Participate in internal and external audits to assess compliance with SWPPP requirements and identify areas for improvement.
- Utilize GIS and other software tools to analyze data and create visual representations of stormwater management strategies.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Northstar's environmental practices and policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in stormwater management or environmental compliance.
- Proven knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to stormwater management.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex environmental data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective reporting and stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency in using GIS software and other relevant tools for data analysis and visualization.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Nice to have
- Certification as a Qualified SWPPP Developer (QSD) or Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP).
- Experience with environmental impact assessments and permitting processes.
- Familiarity with construction site management and BMP implementation.
- Knowledge of water quality monitoring and assessment techniques.
- Experience working with diverse teams and managing stakeholder relationships.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for spatial analysis and mapping.
- Familiarity with environmental modeling software and stormwater management tools.
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis and presentations.
- Knowledge of project management software to track project progress and deliverables.
- Ability to conduct field assessments and utilize field equipment for data collection.
