Senior Devops Engineer

About the role

This position involves building and maintaining the tools that enable our engineering team to operate efficiently. You will manage environments within AWS, balancing engineering and operations tasks. This role requires a self-motivated individual who can lead other team members.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Implement and support infrastructure services, focusing on AWS, Kubernetes, Linkerd, Docker, Kafka, and Postgres.
• Develop a strategic roadmap for Infrastructure-as-a-Service and promote cloud solutions across the company.
• Automate daily operational functions for the cloud platform, collaborating with all teams.
• Create and monitor alerts for system errors and performance issues.
• Build and participate in CI/CD pipeline development in a fast-paced setting.
• Provide on-call support for infrastructure and systems, promoting site reliability principles.
• Manage database infrastructure, including provisioning and patching.
• Serve as the primary infrastructure support for engineering teams.
• Maintain security hygiene, addressing dependency vulnerabilities, KMS secrets, IAM/IRSA governance, and SOC 2 compliance.

Requirements

• BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering.
• 5+ years of experience with public cloud platforms, specifically AWS.
• 2+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Chef, Puppet, or Ansible.
• 2+ years of experience with container technologies such as Docker, Podman, or LXC.
• Experience in high availability and scalable SaaS or consumer technologies.
• Experience deploying highly available, scalable, secure, and reliable services with automatic failover using containers and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.

Nice to have

• Strong understanding of service meshes, including Linkerd.
• 5+ years of experience with Go, Python, or similar high-level languages.
• 5+ years of experience with Bash or equivalent shell scripting.
• Good understanding of virtualization technologies such as KVM, Hyper-V, or VMWare.
• Experience designing, implementing, and managing AWS environments.
• Deep knowledge of Terraform.
• 5+ years of experience with GCP, or experience with Microsoft Azure.
• Hands-on experience implementing AWS services like EC2 Load Balancing, VPC, Route 53, Direct Connect, NAT Gateway, VPN, EC2 Networking, and Lambda.
• Experience deploying container applications using Helm charts.
• Experience managing database infrastructure, including PostgreSQL (RDS/Aurora) or Cassandra (AWS Keyspaces, Astra DB).
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Datadog, ELK stack, Open Telemetry, and on-call tools like PagerDuty.
