About the role

Netflix is expanding into new entertainment areas and needs a Data Scientist to help manage how these ventures compete for visibility on our platform. This role involves creating systems and tools to balance competing interests while ensuring a great member experience.

What you'll do

• Understand the significance of Netflix's discovery surfaces and their impact on member engagement.
• Develop frameworks to measure the effectiveness of content suggestion methods and create best practice guides.
• Build sophisticated measurement solutions tailored for marketplace environments.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and business teams to influence content suggestion strategies and define key metrics.
• Identify and pursue impactful research opportunities, assessing their value and guiding them from inception to completion.

Requirements

• A PhD or equivalent degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• 2-5 years of experience in marketplace dynamics, experimentation, and causal inference.
• Proven ability to build and implement data science solutions at scale.
• Proficiency in Python and advanced SQL, along with experience using GenAI productivity tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Capacity to work autonomously and manage projects from start to finish.

Nice to have

• Experience with advertising marketplaces or similar allocation systems.
• Familiarity with recommendation algorithms, machine learning, and LLMs.
