Software Engineer - Cloud Platform

About the role

Neo4j is seeking experienced engineers to join the Aura Networking team, which manages our Database-as-a-Service offering. You will focus on scaling our cloud infrastructure, which currently supports hundreds of Kubernetes clusters across multiple cloud service providers.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and maintain the networking foundation for our cloud platform.
• Work with the broader Aura organization to execute a global scaling roadmap.
• Solve engineering problems that impact the reliability, performance, and scalability of our managed services.
• Participate in the maintenance of a 24/7/365 SaaS environment.

Requirements

• Advanced proficiency in AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Professional experience building and running software on Kubernetes.
• Strong working knowledge of Go.
• Experience with cloud networking and Kubernetes networking principles.
• Familiarity with DNS, TLS, mTLS, SNI, and L4/L7 proxies such as Envoy.
• Practical experience with Agile development and continuous delivery pipelines.

Nice to have

• Experience with multi-tenancy environments.
• Knowledge of GCP Private Service Connect or AWS/Azure PrivateLink.
• Ability to write Kubernetes Operators.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes internal networking tools like Cilium, eBPF, Traefik, Calico, Linkerd, Istio, or Consul.
• Expertise in Kubernetes network security and architecting for high availability.
