About the role
In this position, you will be part of the Content Delivery Engineering team within NBCUniversal's Global Video Engineering division, located in New York City. Your primary focus will be on enhancing video-on-demand, live events, and linear streaming services for millions of users across various platforms, including Peacock, SkyShowtime, NOW, and WOW. This role requires strong collaboration with team members across multiple regions, emphasizing the importance of effective communication.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Design, develop, and maintain software systems and features, specializing in Go and/or Python, primarily related to video content delivery at scale.
- Implement a thorough peer review process for code and configuration changes within organized repository structures and CI/CD deployment pipelines.
- Create design documentation and collaborate with team members and stakeholders through design and code reviews to uphold best practices.
- Partner with the Site Reliability Engineering team to ensure that deployed systems are dependable, scalable, and perform at their best using modern technologies.
- Utilize observability tools and advanced analytics to identify issues and drive improvements.
- Manage multiple priorities effectively to deliver high-quality outcomes in a dynamic, agile environment.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is mandatory.
- At least 3 years of experience in software development, with proficiency in Go and/or Python.
- Experience deploying software to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) using containerization tools (Kubernetes, Docker).
- Familiarity with software repositories, CI/CD pipelines, and test automation practices.
- Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles for maintaining scalability and reliability in cloud settings.
- Understanding of Agile methodologies, such as Scrum and Kanban.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey ideas clearly to a diverse audience.
- Experience with Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) for streaming media is a plus, but training can be provided.
- Familiarity with AI tools for code generation, reviews, testing, and software development workflows is beneficial.

Practical notes
This position operates on a hybrid schedule, requiring in-office attendance at least four days a week. NBCUniversal reserves the right to modify in-office requirements as needed. The role offers a competitive salary range of $105,000 - $145,000, along with company-sponsored benefits, including health insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and various discounts and perks.
