Senior Backend Platform Developer, Contact Center Systems

About the role

Navan is seeking a developer to modernize our contact center infrastructure through serverless architecture and AI-driven workflows. You will focus on building scalable backend services that enhance the experience for both our customers and support agents.

What you'll do

• Develop production-ready Node.js services utilizing AWS Lambda and event-driven patterns.
• Architect secure APIs and manage integrations between internal data and third-party platforms.
• Establish technical standards and reusable service patterns for contact center operations.
• Build observability pipelines using OpenSearch, CloudWatch, Kibana, Snowflake, and structured logging.
• Create automation and AI-enabled workflows to improve routing, troubleshooting, and agent support.
• Design migration strategies to transition legacy telephony systems to modern, scalable platforms.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in backend software engineering, specifically with Node.js or TypeScript.
• Demonstrated expertise in API design, system architecture, debugging, and asynchronous systems.
• Practical experience with cloud-native or serverless architectures like AWS Lambda.
• Proficiency in production observability, including monitoring, logging, and data pipelines.
• Experience utilizing AI coding assistants for refactoring, testing, and development.
• Strong command of GitHub workflows, including branching, code reviews, and CI/CD.
• Ability to translate complex operational requirements into maintainable technical solutions.

Nice to have

• Background in telephony, customer support, or contact center workflow automation.
• Familiarity with platforms such as Genesys Cloud, Twilio, Five9, NICE, Zoom Contact Center, or Avaya.
• Knowledge of IVR, SIP, call metadata, routing queues, or phone number management.
• Experience with infrastructure tooling including Terraform, AWS SAM, CloudFormation, or Snowflake SQL.
