Join Natera's oncology research team as a Principal Scientist, leading translational and strategic initiatives. This position focuses on applying biomarker science and advanced genomics to understand clinical observations and enhance our oncology pipeline. We are looking for someone with deep expertise in cancer biology and a history of leadership in biotech or pharma.

What you'll do
- Lead discovery and translational projects, integrating scRNA-seq and spatial biology into Natera's pipeline.
- Work with external translational teams to incorporate single-cell and spatial biology into early-phase clinical studies.
- Use new technologies to support reverse and forward translation, as well as internal target discovery and validation.
- Design and conduct laboratory research programs connecting clinical findings with mechanistic hypotheses to advance assets.
- Guide the technology team focused on single cell genomics and spatial omics, developing multiomics capabilities for foundational models and real-world data.
- Collaborate internally and externally to establish and deploy advanced platforms for translational uses.
- Act as an internal authority on emerging genomics technologies relevant to oncology drug development.
- Represent translational science on life cycle, real-world data, and BioPharma business development teams.
- Partner with Clinical, Biomarker, Discovery, and Regulatory colleagues to shape clinical trial designs and biomarker plans.
- Build and maintain external scientific and advisory relationships.
- Manage and mentor a team of scientists and contractors, supporting their career and scientific growth.
- Cultivate a collaborative and high-performing team environment with clear objectives.
Requirements
- PhD in Cancer Biology, Molecular/Cellular Biology, Immunology, Bioengineering, or a related discipline.
- 6 or more years of post-PhD experience in oncology translational research within biotech or pharma, with demonstrated progression to senior or principal scientist roles.
- Extensive scientific knowledge in cancer cell biology, tumor immunology, cell engineering, or neoantigen biology.
- Practical experience with single cell genomics, spatial transcriptomics, or multiomics platforms.
- Proven experience in building or scaling these capabilities within an organization is highly preferred.
- Strong publication or patent record showing independent scientific contributions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional programs and influence teams across Research, Clinical, and Biomarker departments.
- Previous experience managing and mentoring scientists at various career stages.
- Excellent scientific communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex data and present it effectively to diverse audiences.
