About the role

This role involves executing complex laboratory procedures to support the RUO Oncology Team within the research and development department. You will contribute to cross-functional activities while maintaining high standards of data accuracy and sample management.

What you'll do

• Normalize plasma samples and extract nucleic acids from tissue blocks, plasma, and whole blood using manual and automated techniques.
• Prepare libraries for next generation sequencing and load them onto platforms such as NovaSeq, iSeq, and MiSeq.
• Quantify nucleic acids using qPCR, Qubit, Nanodrop, BioAnalyzer, and Quant-IT.
• Maintain lab equipment, track sample inventory via Google Sheets or LIMS, and document work in internal databases and Microsoft Excel.
• Interpret experimental data, troubleshoot instrument malfunctions, and suggest process improvements.
• Handle protected health information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA and internal security protocols.

Requirements

• Masters degree or at least 3 years of academic or industrial research experience.
• Proficiency in pipetting techniques, including single and multi-channel micropipettes and serological pipettes.
• Ability to work onsite in San Carlos with flexibility for shifted schedules, such as 7am-4pm, 11am-8pm, or 7pm-3am.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently under general supervision.
• Must pass a post-offer criminal background check.
• Ability to lift or move items weighing up to 25lbs.

• Hands-on experience with next generation sequencing platforms.
• Experience with laboratory automation.
