PSC Manager - Islip, NY

About the role

This position is based in Islip, NY, and functions as both a phlebotomist and an operations manager for a designated Patient Service Center. You will oversee local phlebotomy programs, manage patient interactions, and potentially supervise additional staff to accommodate growth.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Perform venipunctures and finger sticks while maintaining specimen integrity and aseptic standards.
• Verify patient identities and test requisitions, addressing discrepancies with leadership.
• Manage daily operations, including equipment maintenance, supply stocking, and vendor coordination.
• Track collections in Natera systems and report key performance indicators biweekly.
• Supervise phlebotomy staff, including onboarding, training, and scheduling.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, PHI security, JCAHO standards, and internal quality-control logs.
• Handle escalations, monitor customer feedback, and resolve unusual test orders with medical staff.
• Lift up to 50 pounds of supplies and perform occasional reimbursable travel.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of phlebotomy experience.
• Minimum 5 years of high-level customer care experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• If your state mandates a phlebotomy license, you must include a copy with your application.
• Ability to work with PHI in paper and electronic formats.
• Completion of mandatory privacy and compliance training within 30 days of hire.
