Pathology Support Coordinator at Natera
About the role
This position involves reviewing pathology data for accuracy and completeness to support specialized testing. You will interpret medical reports and manage sample information to ensure quality control for critical diagnostic services.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Examine case information, including data from laboratory information management systems, to verify the accuracy and completeness of pathology tissue samples for Signatera and Altera testing.
- Analyze pathology reports, clinical notes, and other diagnostic findings to accurately record data for each tissue sample.
- Work with colleagues to address and resolve any identified data discrepancies.
- Place necessary holds or notes on cases with non-conforming samples, inconsistencies, or missing details, and escalate issues for prompt resolution.
- Confirm cancer types for the reporting team prior to report issuance, using email and spreadsheets.
- Achieve daily targets for case processing.
- Participate in interdepartmental meetings.
- Provide input for process and workflow improvements.
- Review and adhere to all standard operating procedures.
- Handle protected health information (PHI) in both paper and electronic formats, completing required HIPAA/PHI privacy training.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A Bachelor's or Associate's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in the medical industry, with a preference for pathology-related roles.
- Prior experience with data entry is mandatory.
- Typing speed of at least 45 words per minute with high accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Excellent critical thinking skills and sound judgment.
- Ability to perform tasks with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- A positive attitude and ability to collaborate effectively with others.
Skills & tools
- Proficiency in using laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Familiarity with data entry and quality control processes.
