About the role
Morgan Stanley is looking for a Vice President to join the Cyber, Technology and Information Security (CTIS) Risk Coverage team. This position will focus on overseeing risks associated with the firm's digital asset ecosystem, which includes crypto trading platforms, custody solutions, and distributed ledger technology. The role involves evaluating risk management practices and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance the firm's approach to digital asset risks.

What you'll do
- Conduct independent assessments of risk exposures related to digital assets, including custody, trading, and blockchain infrastructure.
- Offer expertise and oversight in critical risk areas such as private key management, wallet security, smart contract risks, and transaction monitoring.
- Identify significant control weaknesses that could affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability, and report these to senior management.
- Enhance risk visibility through improved metrics, reporting, and scenario analysis.
- Influence remediation priorities and risk acceptance decisions among business and technology leaders.
- Assist in preparing for regulatory meetings and responding to inquiries from regulators.
- Foster strong relationships within the cyber and information security risk community, particularly in digital asset teams, to become a trusted advisor.
- Collaborate with second-line colleagues to evaluate cybersecurity risks affecting business processes and drive integrated risk management strategies.
- Monitor emerging technology and security risks, as well as incidents related to the digital asset ecosystem.
- Support the management of non-financial risks and ensure compliance with regulatory obligations concerning digital assets and distributed ledger technologies.
- Mentor and train team members within the NFR CTIS group.
Requirements
- A degree in Computer Science or Cyber/Information Security is preferred but not mandatory.
- Over 5 years of experience in technology and/or security risk management, ideally within the financial services sector focusing on digital assets.
- Comprehensive understanding of blockchain technology and Web3 activities, including crypto trading, wallet infrastructure, asset tokenization, and associated regulations.
- Proven experience in assessing or managing risks tied to digital assets, including private key security and smart contract vulnerabilities.
- Background in Technology/Security Risk Management or Technology/Security Audit, particularly with digital assets or distributed ledger technologies, is advantageous.
- Relevant industry certifications such as CISM, CISA, or CISSP are beneficial.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal skills suited for a collaborative team environment.
- Proven leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Salary range for the position: $95,000 to $170,000 annually. The selected candidate may qualify for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award and participation in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which may include a discretionary bonus.
