About the role
We are seeking a Software Engineer 3 to join our Voyage Control Plane team. In this position, you will develop the management and orchestration layer that allows numerous developers to utilize Voyage's embedding and reranking models within the MongoDB Atlas framework. Your collaboration with various teams will help enhance the user experience for AI model adoption.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Create and implement the Atlas Administration API and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) providers for automating the management of AI resources.
- Work closely with Atlas platform teams and Voyage Inference Platform engineers to provide developer-friendly experiences for embedding and reranking models.
- Develop and maintain features for customer observability, including real-time performance metrics and usage analytics.
- Support the legacy Voyage platform while facilitating the transition of user experiences to the Atlas AI Model APIs frontend.
- Establish governance systems that include audit trails and customer alerts regarding AI model usage.
- Design and scale internal operational dashboards to assist support, sales, and engineering teams in managing customer accounts.
- Create and maintain billing pipelines that convert raw inference events into precise invoices.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in building distributed backend systems at scale.
- Proficient in programming languages such as Typescript, Go, Java, or Python, focusing on system availability and consistency.
- Familiar with cloud-native architectures, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), distributed systems, and multi-tenant service design.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Cloud Computing platforms (GCP Cloud SQL, GKE, BigQuery, Cloud Run) is advantageous.
- Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams, including ML researchers and platform engineers.
- Committed to developing cloud-first and developer-friendly systems integrated within the MongoDB Atlas ecosystem.
Nice to have
- Understanding of OpenAPI Specification, Next.js, Swagger, gRPC, and Python FastAPI.
- Experience with observability tools like Grafana, Prometheus, and GCP Metrics & Monitoring.
- Proven ability to work with product teams and cross-functional engineering groups.
- Background in developing multi-tenant control plane backends for AI inference platforms.
Practical notes
MongoDB's salary range for this position is between $106,000 and $209,000 USD. Compensation will be determined based on individual qualifications, experience, and location.
