About the role
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented individual to join our Revenue Team as a Senior Manager. This position will be located in either our Austin, Palo Alto, or New York City office. The primary responsibilities include evaluating accounting practices for new products, analyzing complex revenue transactions, refining revenue recognition policies, and guiding technical revenue accounting matters. This role also involves participating in month-end and quarter-end closing processes while leading and mentoring a small remote team.

What you'll do
- Provide expertise on revenue accounting transactions in compliance with ASC 606 and related financial reporting requirements.
- Oversee quarterly reviews and year-end financial audits conducted by external auditors concerning accounts receivable, reserves, and revenue.
- Participate in month-end closing activities, including cash transactions, revenue analyses, journal entries, account reconciliations, and revenue recognition.
- Manage a small team of Revenue Analysts, reviewing their work and supporting their professional development, with the potential to hire additional analysts as needed.
- Analyze sales transactions within the company's ERP systems to ensure data accuracy and integrity in revenue schedules, including revenue allocations.
- Validate different revenue streams for appropriate recognition practices.
- Review contracts to ensure revenue is recognized in accordance with ASC 606.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing executive-level analytics for various internal and external presentations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with key internal teams such as Order to Cash, Business Operations, Financial Planning & Analysis, Deal Desk, and Legal on ongoing initiatives.
- Support special projects and ad hoc requests as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CA/CPA designation preferred.
- Minimum of 9 years of relevant experience in a similar role within a public, high-growth SaaS or technology company.
- Proven experience with revenue close operations and reconciliation processes, including familiarity with sales data, customer contracts, and product offerings.
- In-depth knowledge of ASC 606.
- Experience in hiring, managing, and mentoring high-performing teams.
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel and handling large datasets.
- Familiarity with ERP and CRM systems such as NetSuite and Salesforce.
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Effective time management skills and the capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and deadline-oriented, with the ability to independently drive projects to completion.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and business partnership skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate across various levels of the organization.
Success Measures
- A successful candidate will effectively navigate a fast-paced global environment and possess a keen interest in revenue advisory processes.
- Within 30 days, you will familiarize yourself with our business, product offerings, and revenue streams.
- By 3 months, you will have a solid understanding of our internal systems, operational workflows, and assigned accounting close tasks, performing them independently.
- After 6 months, you will have established relationships with key internal partners and will be actively collaborating with them on arising issues.
- By the end of the first year, you will be recognized as a primary contact for all revenue-related go-to-market efforts.
Practical notes
MongoDB's base salary range for this role is between $106,000 and $209,000 USD, depending on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and location. This position also includes a comprehensive benefits package, which may encompass equity, participation in an employee stock purchase plan, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks of fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, a 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, and health benefits, including transgender-inclusive coverage.
