About the role

Join the Microsoft Defender engineering team to develop cloud security solutions for government environments. You will build and maintain large-scale services designed to defend against active cyber threats.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Develop and optimize services for high reliability and scale.
• Enhance engineering systems to support complex cloud infrastructures.
• Automate service scaling and implement features based on customer needs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in both pre-production and production environments.
• Participate in an on-call rotation within a secure facility, typically one week every 6-8 weeks.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with SCI access based on an SSBI with Polygraph.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Ability to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire and every two years thereafter.

Nice to have

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git.
• Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker or Kubernetes.
• Background in debugging across operating systems, applications, and cloud layers.
• Experience managing large-scale production services, including monitoring, alerting, and reliability metrics.
• Proficiency with GitHub and Azure DevOps.
• Ability to work effectively with Program Managers, Security Researchers, and Data Scientists.
