In this position, you will be part of the Azure Monitor team, focusing on developing and enhancing the cloud-native infrastructure for Azure Monitor and related observability services. This role is perfect for individuals who can manage complex Kubernetes-based systems, drive architectural decisions, enhance reliability and security, and integrate AI capabilities into infrastructure operations.

What you'll do

• Lead design and code reviews across various feature areas and engage in all phases of the engineering lifecycle, from research and discovery to deployment and live site support.
• Collaborate with multiple partner teams and ensure deployment across all Azure regions.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, along with at least 2 years of technical engineering experience in programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to meet Microsoft's security screening requirements, which include passing the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hiring and every two years thereafter.

Nice to have

• A Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, with 6+ years of technical engineering experience, or a Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, cloud-native infrastructure, distributed systems, or large-scale production services.
• Experience in enhancing reliability, security, and operational excellence for live services.
• Proven ability to collaborate across teams to deliver infrastructure capabilities with clear ownership.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, Java, C++, Go, or Python.

Skills & tools

• Strong understanding of distributed systems and large-scale services.
• Expertise in designing, building, and managing cloud infrastructure components on Kubernetes, with a focus on reliability, security, and cost efficiency.
• Knowledge of operational patterns for Kubernetes, including service-to-service communication and traffic management.

Practical notes

• The typical salary range for this position in the U.S. is between USD $102,100 and $202,200 annually. For roles located in the San Francisco Bay area and New York City, the salary range is USD $133,800 to $219,200.
