Security Supervisor at Metopera.
About the role
The Metopera is seeking a dedicated professional to oversee security operations during assigned shifts at our Lincoln Center location. You will lead a team of guards, manage incident responses, and ensure all safety protocols are strictly followed to protect our staff, performers, and guests.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Lead shift rollcalls to verify guard attendance, uniform standards, and awareness of daily post orders.
- Manage personnel deployment and adjust station assignments as conditions change throughout the shift.
- Train and mentor security staff on organizational policies, safety regulations, and operational procedures.
- Act as the primary responder for alarms, medical crises, criminal activity, and other emergency situations.
- Coordinate with external agencies such as the NYPD and FDNY during incidents and provide status updates to senior security leadership.
- Maintain consistent operational standards by briefing staff on recent events and proper protocol application.
- Author comprehensive incident reports documenting all security-related activities.
Requirements
- Must hold a valid NYS Security Officer License.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must possess or be able to acquire FDNY Certificates of Fitness for F-03 Indoor Place of Assembly and F-04 Outdoor Place of Assembly.
- Prior law enforcement experience is mandatory.
- Ability to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- Must be available to extend shifts beyond scheduled hours during emergency situations until relieved.
- Physical capability to regularly lift, push, or pull at least 50 lbs.
- Ability to remain standing and walking for consecutive hours.
Nice to have
- Previous supervisory experience within the military, private security, or law enforcement sectors.
Skills & tools
- Proficiency with access control systems, surveillance equipment, and electronic security hardware.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- High level of observational detail.
- Competency in conflict resolution and de-escalation tactics.
- Professional demeanor when interacting with the public and staff.
