About the role
The Metropolitan Opera Production Department manages the technical execution of all stage productions, special events, and facility operations. This role provides direct administrative and financial support to the Electric Department, ensuring accurate payroll processing and efficient purchasing workflows. You will work closely with the Production Finance Manager and the Head Electrician to maintain the operational standards of the IATSE Local One stage crew.

What you'll do
- Collect, review, and input timesheets for electric stage crew and shop staff into the internal payroll system.
- Interpret IATSE Local 1 collective bargaining agreements to ensure pay compliance.
- Manage the assignment of pay codes based on weekly operations schedules and crew duties.
- Research and resolve payroll inquiries for department staff.
- Handle purchase orders, accounts payable submissions, and vendor relations.
- Coordinate material deliveries and manage loading dock logistics.
- Support general office functions including supply ordering, attendance tracking, and phone coverage.
- Facilitate onboarding and status updates for new hires in collaboration with HR.
Requirements
- BA degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Proficiency in data entry or bookkeeping.
- Strong mathematical aptitude and high attention to numerical detail.
- Ability to work on-site in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks while working both independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, bend, and lift up to 20 pounds.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Nice to have
- Prior experience with payroll data entry and timesheet management.
- Background in Accounts Payable.
- Familiarity with technical theatre operations.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Adobe Pro.
