About the role
We are seeking an AI Research Scientist specializing in robotics to join our team. This position involves conducting innovative research and developing new technologies in embodied artificial intelligence. You will collaborate with a diverse group of scientists and engineers to create and prototype advanced robotic systems.

What you'll do
- Conduct both fundamental and applied research to advance the field of embodied AI.
- Create and enhance data-driven approaches for robotics, utilizing various data types such as images, audio, and text.
- Explore methods that enable a range of embodied behaviors, from virtual characters to physical robots, and from short-term tasks to complex, long-term objectives.
- Design algorithms using the latest machine learning and neural network techniques.
- Establish, develop, and evaluate new functionalities for future AI systems.
- Align research efforts with long-term product goals while setting and achieving intermediate milestones.
- Strategize and implement innovative research aligned with the organization's long-term vision.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Currently pursuing or in the process of obtaining a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Familiarity with research areas including robotics, motion planning, embodied AI, human-robot interaction, sim-to-real transfer, learning from demonstration, reinforcement learning, and computer vision.
- Experience in relevant robotics research domains such as robot learning, reinforcement learning, task and motion planning, and embodied AI.
Nice to have
- Proven ability to tackle complex challenges and evaluate different solutions to determine the best approach.
- Experience with both robotic simulations and real-world hardware.
- Strong communication skills and experience working collaboratively in a team setting.
- At least 2 years of industry experience in robotics-related research fields.
- A history of significant achievements in research, demonstrated through grants, fellowships, patents, or publications in prominent conferences and journals.
- Skills in managing and analyzing large-scale, high-dimensional data from diverse sources.
- Experience in building systems utilizing machine learning or deep learning techniques.
- Demonstrated software engineering skills through internships, work experience, or contributions to open-source projects.
- Proficiency with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow and programming in Python.
Practical notes
Salary range: $154,000 to $217,000 annually, plus bonus and equity options. Individual compensation is based on skills, experience, and location. This figure represents the base salary and does not include potential bonuses or equity. Meta also offers a comprehensive benefits package.
