About the role
We are seeking an experienced Database Engineer to design, build, and scale enterprise data infrastructure across Microsoft SQL Server, PostgresSQL, and MongoDB ecosystems. This on-site role involves developing robust database solutions, optimizing complex environments, and ensuring high-performance, reliable data management across both cloud and on-premises platforms. You will work closely with development teams, architects, and security professionals to implement best practices for database security, disaster recovery, and performance tuning. The position requires a strong background in managing diverse database technologies, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining data integrity and security in a fast-paced enterprise environment.

What you'll do
- Design, deploy, and optimize various database technologies within multi-cloud and on-premises environments, ensuring they meet performance, security, and reliability standards.
- Write, analyze, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions to support application development and reporting needs.
- Create, modify, and remove indices to improve query performance, reduce overhead, and optimize resource utilization across multiple database platforms.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures tailored for cloud and on-premises environments, ensuring data availability and integrity.
- Conduct disaster recovery drills and failover testing to validate recovery procedures, RTO (Recovery Time Objective), RPO (Recovery Point Objective), and team readiness for potential outages.
- Monitor database performance metrics, analyze bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies to enhance system responsiveness and stability.
- Collaborate with developers, data architects, and security teams to design efficient data models, schemas, and data pipelines that support business requirements.
- Implement security best practices across all database platforms, including access controls, encryption standards, and compliance measures to safeguard sensitive data.
- Manage database migrations, upgrades, and version control to ensure seamless transitions and minimal downtime during system updates.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues related to replication, clustering, connectivity, and performance anomalies, ensuring minimal impact on business operations.
- Maintain documentation of database configurations, procedures, and recovery plans to support audit and compliance requirements.
- Stay updated with emerging database technologies and industry best practices to recommend improvements and innovations in data infrastructure.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in database engineering or related roles.
- Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (2016 or later), including T-SQL development, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and query optimization techniques.
- Deep understanding of index strategies, execution plans, and performance tuning for MSSQL environments.
- Hands-on experience configuring and managing MSSQL Always-On Availability Groups, including failover management and high-availability solutions.
- Experience with MSSQL mirroring and log shipping for disaster recovery scenarios.
- Strong knowledge of backup and restore strategies, including recovery models such as Simple, Bulk-Logged, and Full, with the ability to perform point-in-time recovery.
- Proven experience working with PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience managing MongoDB or other NoSQL databases, including data modeling and performance considerations.
- Extensive experience managing databases on AWS RDS and Aurora, including backup, recovery, and scaling strategies.
- Knowledge of database security protocols, encryption methods, authentication mechanisms, and compliance standards relevant to enterprise data management.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and implement effective solutions quickly.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and document procedures clearly.
- Ability to work on-site in a collaborative environment, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Nice to have
- Microsoft Azure certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect or Azure Data Engineer, demonstrating cloud expertise.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager for automating infrastructure deployment.
- Familiarity with ETL tools and data pipeline management to support data integration and transformation workflows.
- Experience with database monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Redgate, or Solarwinds to proactively manage database health.
- Knowledge of high-availability architecture, replication strategies, and clustering solutions to ensure system resilience.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, and automated testing frameworks to streamline deployment processes.
- Experience working within Agile or DevOps environments, emphasizing continuous improvement and collaboration.
