About the role
This position partners closely with leaders in Research & Development and General & Administrative functions. You will provide financial guidance, support strategic decision-making, and drive financial planning for these critical areas of the company.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Serve as the primary finance contact for R&D and G&A leadership, understanding their operational needs and anticipating financial questions.
- Manage headcount and operational expense planning, developing detailed models for R&D and G&A costs, including personnel, vendor expenses, and infrastructure allocations.
- Assist R&D leaders with resource allocation, including evaluating build versus buy decisions and investment priorities, and help G&A leaders assess vendor agreements and cost efficiency.
- Lead annual financial planning and ongoing forecasting processes for your assigned organizations, translating business objectives into financial plans and analyzing forecast variances.
- Provide financial frameworks for complex, qualitative investment inquiries, such as evaluating new technology platforms or assessing the return on investment for people programs.
Requirements
- Possess 3 to 5 years of experience in investment banking, strategic finance, or consulting, with a preference for experience in technology companies or organizations where personnel costs are a significant driver.
- Demonstrate strong financial modeling skills, capable of building flexible headcount and operating expense models from scratch and explaining them clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
- Exhibit genuine curiosity about how product and engineering organizations function, including team structures, infrastructure cost scaling, and the drivers of successful people investments.
- Build rapport quickly with non-finance colleagues, comfortable engaging with engineers and legal professionals to gather necessary information.
- Independently extract and analyze data using tools like SQL, BI platforms, or FP&A software to support financial analysis.
- Communicate financial insights with clarity, effectively summarizing complex analyses for leadership and knowing when to prioritize numerical data versus contextual information.

Practical notes
- US employees in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area: $142,900 - $160,700 base salary.
- US employees outside of New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle or the San Francisco Bay Area: $128,600 - $144,600 base salary.
- Canadian employees (any location): CAD 135,000 - 151,900 base salary.
- Offers include base salary, equity (stock options/RSUs), and benefits.
- Salary and equity ranges are competitive within the SaaS and fintech industry and are updated regularly.
- New hire offers are determined by candidate experience, expertise, geographic location, and internal pay equity.
- Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
