Key facts
What you'll do
- Lead the development and implementation of fraud prevention strategies across various payment methods and fraud types, including ACH, checks, RTP, account takeovers, and onboarding.
- Drive the expansion of Mercury's Personal Banking fraud program, applying consumer fintech knowledge to create effective controls for individual account holders.
- Utilize data analysis to design fraud defenses, reduce risk exposure, and enhance customer experience while managing competing priorities.
- Collaborate with Compliance and Legal teams to ensure all solutions meet regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to build and deploy scalable risk management solutions.
- Act as a subject matter expert in fraud, proactively identifying weaknesses and driving improvements across all fraud programs.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of risk measures and their impact on customers.
- Take initiative to identify issues, build compelling cases for action, and see projects through to completion.
Requirements
- A minimum of 6 years in an analytical position, with at least 4 years focused on fraud detection and strategy. Consumer fintech experience is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated success in creating and executing fraud strategies for multiple payment channels and fraud categories such as ACH, checks, RTP, onboarding, account takeovers, and friendly fraud.
- Hands-on experience contributing to consumer banking fraud initiatives, including understanding consumer fraud patterns and relevant regulations.
- Proficiency in customer risk scoring, modeling, and process automation.
- Strong SQL skills and the ability to translate data insights into strategic plans.
- A proven history of balancing risk, compliance, and customer experience in cross-functional environments.
- Excellent communication abilities to clearly explain complex risk concepts and provide actionable recommendations.
- The capacity to operate effectively with incomplete information and make sound decisions.
- A high degree of self-motivation and a strong work ethic.
- A curious and growth-oriented mindset, with a desire to work on fraud challenges throughout their lifecycle.

- US employees (any location) base salary range: $200,700 - $250,900
- Canadian employees (any location) base salary range: CAD $189,700 - $237,100
