Staff Product Manager

About the role

Mercury is building the financial infrastructure for ambitious founders and their teams. We are seeking a seasoned product leader to drive forward our initiatives in artificial intelligence and programmable finance. This role is for someone who can translate complex technical possibilities into tangible product experiences for our users.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Understand deeply how our most technically adept customers interact with Mercury and identify unmet needs.
• Shape the product direction for our AI offerings, including Command, CLI, and MCP, to redefine user interaction with their financial tools.
• Develop Mercury's strategy for integration with the broader AI ecosystem, automating workflows through our AI stack.
• Own and advance the roadmap for Mercury's API, evolving it into a comprehensive platform for customer development.
• Collaborate with engineering on critical technical decisions regarding interfaces, API design, data access, and feature sets.
• Partner with growth and partnerships teams to ensure our AI products provide a competitive edge in customer acquisition and retention.
• Operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with engaged leadership that values original thinking and rapid execution.

Requirements

• A genuine enthusiasm for current AI advancements and hands-on experience building with AI technologies.
• A strong point of view on AI products and the ability to discern their effectiveness.
• A minimum of 10 years of product development experience, including end-to-end ownership of product decisions.
• Proficiency across the technical stack, with practical experience in building AI products and familiarity with concepts like RAG, evals, and agent harnesses.
• A clear understanding of how to build products for developers and technical users.
• The ability to take a promising early-stage product area and develop it into a clear strategy with a defined roadmap.

Practical notes

• US employees: Base salary range of $239,000 - $298,800.
• Canadian employees: Base salary range of CAD 225,900 - 282,400.
• Total compensation includes base salary, equity (stock options/RSUs), and benefits.
• Salary and equity ranges are competitive and adjusted based on reliable compensation data.
• Offers are determined by candidate experience, expertise, location, and internal pay equity.
