About the role
Mercury is seeking a product leader to advance our AI initiatives and API development. This role focuses on building programmable and intelligent financial tools. We need someone who can work across the entire technology stack and has hands-on experience developing AI products.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Understand how Mercury's technical customers use current products and identify unmet needs.
- Guide the product vision for AI tools like Command, CLI, and MCP, transforming how users interact with their finances.
- Define Mercury's strategy for integrating with the broader AI ecosystem, automating workflows using our AI stack.
- Manage the roadmap for Mercury's API, evolving it into a comprehensive platform for customers to build upon.
- Collaborate with engineering to make critical technical decisions regarding interfaces, API design, and data access.
- Work with growth and partnerships teams to ensure AI products provide a competitive edge in customer acquisition and retention.
- Operate effectively in a fast-paced environment where leadership is highly invested in this product area.
Requirements
- Over 10 years of experience in building products, either as a founder or product manager, with significant ownership of end-to-end product decisions.
- Strong understanding of building for developers and technical users.
- Ability to engage directly with complex technical concepts across the stack.
- Experience building AI products with AI.
- Enthusiasm for current AI advancements and active engagement with AI tools.
- Strong opinions on AI products and the ability to quickly identify when an approach is incorrect.
- Capability to transform a nascent product area with initial traction into a clear strategy and roadmap.

- Knowledge of RAG, evals, and agent harnesses.

Practical notes
US employees (any location) base salary range: $239,000 - $298,800.
Canadian employees (any location) base salary range: CAD 225,900 - 282,400.
The total compensation package includes base salary, equity (stock options/RSUs), and benefits.
