About the role
Mercury is building intelligent financial systems to bring clarity and confidence to complex workflows. We are seeking a Senior Product Designer to help create a new AI-driven experience within our accounting platform. This role involves translating advanced automation and domain logic into interfaces that feel intuitive and reliable for users.

- Influence how AI capabilities are integrated into intricate financial processes.
- Transform emerging technology into user-friendly designs.
- Design systems that effectively combine automation, clarity, and user control.
- Make complex technical and regulatory information easy to understand through workflows.
- Identify potential issues, failure points, and operational risks in critical areas.
- Develop reusable interaction patterns and escalation strategies for AI-assisted features.
- Create prototypes for new interaction methods and produce detailed, high-quality product designs.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, research, and data teams to deliver well-considered solutions.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience leading comprehensive product design projects from start to finish.
- Ability to define strategy and direction in ambiguous environments, not just execute tasks.
- Skill in thinking about systems and workflows, beyond individual screens.
- Prior experience designing products in fintech, AI, data-intensive, or workflow-focused domains.
- Capacity to balance automation with transparency, trust, and user comprehension.
- Proficiency in prototyping to explore interaction logic and design execution.
- A strong commitment to quality, accuracy, and usability in high-stakes environments.
- Excellent product judgment, communication abilities, and a sense of ownership.

- US employees (any location): $189,000-236,200 USD base salary.
- Canadian employees (any location): $178,600-223,200 CAD base salary.
- Total compensation includes base salary, equity (stock options/RSUs), and benefits.
- Salary and equity ranges are competitive and based on reliable industry data, adjusted for candidate experience, expertise, location, and internal equity.
